Land & People
Land and People is an engaging, thought-provoking half-day workshop for anyone wanting to learn about how the English Planning system works.
It comprises a series of accessible and engaging visual materials and information alongside practical participatory discussion activities for community groups and non-planning professionals to find out about the English planning system, from its inception to the current state of play, where participants will find out how the system works, who uses it, who works in it, what they do and how communities/residents and non-planners can engage and input into it.
This workshop was developed and launched at the Inspiral London Festival, Gravesend, Oct 2017. Further bespoke versions of this workshop have been held with other groups/organisations including: dance and theatre lecturer/academics as part of the Sensing The City programme (2020) and with People Powered Retrofit (2023).
This workshop can be tailored to community businesses, community organisations, and professionals working in other sectors, to enable participants to re-position their practice and programmes with a stronger understanding of the current English planning system.
