Live Art Practice Workshops (2010/11)

Sarah Spanton has been running a series of Live Art Practice Workshops based on her own cross-disciplinary practice.

The first workshop took place on 13.11.10, at Lawrence Batley Theatre.

The second on 27.2.11 at York St John University.

The third at Point Blank Theatre’s rehearsal space in Sheffield and in surrounding streets on 6.5.11

Participants comments:
‘It was a very stimulating and enjoyable day. I especially enjoyed the diverse mix of ages and genders and experiences.’

‘Really great atmosphere, explanation of activities and overall delivery.’

‘Elements of the workshop will support my development of upcoming projects … Particularly the physicalisation of simple ideas.’

‘Helped me to indulge in being playful and creative, refreshed some ideas.’

‘I have much greater awareness of space now, and how any space can be transformed into a performance space by the choices the performer makes in that space.’

‘… I loved Sarah’s style and would want to attend anything she was running like this. She knows her stuff, she knows how to deliver and she knows how to make it personally relevant.’

These workshops took place as part of Compass Live Art, the Arts Council England funded programme of strategic live art development, developed and managed by the consortium of East Street Arts, Waymarking and Annie Lloyd.
